How this silk sample can be used
This silk fabric sample is intended primarily for fibre testing and basic material comparison. It can help you:
-
Confirm whether a fabric is genuine silk or synthetic
-
Carry out simple at-home tests, such as the bleach test or a careful fibre burn test
-
Compare silk fibres against satin, polyester, or blended materials
-
Observe the appearance and behaviour of real mulberry silk, rather than relying on texture alone
-
Avoid cutting or damaging finished items such as silk pillowcases, garments, or accessories
Because the sample is small, it is best used for testing and identification purposes rather than judging overall comfort, drape, or weight.
Why testing silk matters
Pure mulberry silk is naturally soft, breathable, and gentle on skin and hair. However, many items sold as “silk” are actually synthetic or blended fabrics.
Most people only realise a fabric isn’t real silk after weeks of use, when it feels less comfortable or behaves differently than expected. Testing early helps avoid that disappointment.
Once you’ve felt genuine silk, the difference becomes clear.
How to identify real silk (overview)
Bleach test:
Pure silk breaks down and dissolves in bleach, while synthetic fibres do not. Only a very small sample is needed.
Fire test (with care):
Real silk burns slowly, smells like burning hair, and usually stops burning once the flame is removed. Synthetic fibres melt and smell like plastic.

Why we offer silk samples
We believe customers should be able to verify silk quality for themselves, not rely solely on labels or marketing terms. Offering genuine silk samples allows you to test, compare, and feel confident in what you’re buying and using.
