Natural fabrics are those fabrics that are created from fibres occurring in nature like animals’ coats, plant seeds, leaves and stems, and even minerals. Silk

Silk is a natural protein fibre. It is the fine thread with which a silkworm spins its cocoon. Bamboo

Bamboo fabric is wood textile which is made from bamboo plant. Modern bamboo textile/bamboo cloth for clothes, bedding, towels or socks is usually viscose rayon, a fibre made by dissolving the cellulose in the bamboo, and then extruding it to form fibres. It’s a semi-synthetic fibre made by chemically reshaping cellulose. Some bamboo fabric is manufactured with a mechanical rather than a chemical process. Similar to retting flax into linen fibre, bamboo material is crushed to get bamboo fibres, and be washed and spun into yarn. This yarn usually has a silky texture, and the fabric made by this process is sometimes called bamboo linen and sometimes are marketed as bamboo silk fabric. The real natural bamboo fabric is bamboo linen which is more expensive than normal bamboo fabric.

Pros

Bamboo fabric is breathable and easy to dry, because of this, antibacterial properties is widely known as its main feature. Bamboo fabric is less easy to mold.

Also because it’s wood fibre, bamboo textile is durable and easy to maintain.

Cons

As we mentioned above, most of bamboo fabric is entirely synthetic, the production is a chemical process, you should beware of low quality bamboo fabric, sleeping in or wearing varieties of low quality bamboo fabric has shown to emit toxic substances that can lead to headaches, nausea, vomiting, chest pain and insomnia. The problem is it’s very hard to tell if the bamboo fabric is normal bamboo fabric or bamboo linen.

Linen

The flax fibres used to make linen are obtained from the stems of the plant Linum usitatissimum . Like Cotton, flax fibre is a cellulose polymer, but its structure is more crystalline, making it stronger, crisper and stiffer to handle, and more easily wrinkled.

Cons

Linen is a rough material and it is difficult to create elegant items of the wardrobe. It is suitable for clothing in rustic style. Adherents of an elegant style of clothing are better to choose products from silk or other fabric. Also linen fabric are mostly in a light color range like beige tones.

Linen is poorly combined with a winter wardrobe, being still a summer version of the fabric.

Cotton

Cotton fabric is plant-based that comes from cotton plants. Cotton is almost pure cellulose with softness and breathability. It’s the most widely used natural fibre in the world today.

Pros

Cotton absorbs moisture readily, which makes cotton clothes comfortable in hot weather. Unlike most synthetic fabrics, cotton absorbs the sweat from your body and allows it to evaporate into the air. It works like a towel, wicking the moisture away from your skin and discouraging the growth of bacteria and yeast.

Cotton is a soft and stretchy fabric that is comfortable to wear. While synthetic fabrics are manufactured with chemicals, cotton is a natural fabric that does not irritate the skin.

Cotton is affordable as there is a very large supply of cotton fibres which drives the price down. Cotton fibres are spun into a tight yarn that is both strong and durable. It’s also easy to maintain.

Cons

If you’re after a natural fabric that has smooth, crispy texture, you may need to go to other fabric like silk instead of cotton. Cotton fabric is fluffy. Except of that there’s nothing you can complain.
