How to Care Pure Silk Pillowcase
Here're some tips for you to care your silk pillowcases and other products made of real silk like silk underwear, silk cap, silk scarf etc. Silk material is luxury and delicate, but you can keep it shiny and smooth if you maintain it properly.

Can prolong the lifespan of silk, but it can also be achieved if you follow the instructions for washing silk.
HAND WASH
1. Fill a basin with <= lukewarm water 30℃/86°F.
2. Add a few drops of special detergent for the silk delicate.
3. Let the garment soak for five minutes.
4. Take the silk item and gently plunge it up and down in the water to move the
water through the fabric and wash out any dirt or residue.
5. Rinse the silk item <= lukewarm water (30℃/86°F).
6. Use a towel to soak up water after the wash.
7. Hang the garment to dry.
8. Use the lowest heat setting or silk setting if you want to iron.
WASH SILK IN A WASHING MACHINE
1. Wash different colors and fabrics separately.
2. Turn your silk item inside out and place it in a delicates mesh bag.
3. Add the proper amount of neutral or special detergent for silk to the machine.
4. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle.
5. Minimize or avoid spin time.
6. Use a towel to soak up water after the wash.
7. Hang the item or lay flat to dry.
8. Use the lowest heat setting or silk setting if you want to iron.
What Detergent Should I Use to Wash My Silk Pillowcase?
Silk is a natural, protein based fabric which is similar ingredient of your hair and skin, so it needs to be washed with gentle detergents (just think about how you care your hair).
Choose detergents specialized for silk. There’re many detergents specialized for silk in the market but you can also use wool detergents if you can’t find silk detergents. Most of the time wool detergents can be used for silk but read manual before you use them.
Mild soap or shampoo. If you don’t’ have silk/wool detergents, you can use something on hand. It works with normal soap or shampoo.
Avoid detergents contain enzymes or bleaching agents, Silk will be damaged if a laundry detergent with enzymes or bleaching agents is used.
Choose low PH detergent. Heavy chemicals will harden the silk, low PH detergent can keep your silk soft and smooth.
Hand-washing or Machine-washing?
Care your silk by hand washing can make it last longer, gently remove dirt if there’s any and rinse your silk pillowcase. But you can still wash with washing machine if you follow guides. Make sure use a mesh bag to protect it from scratching or damaging and avoid tumble-dry.
Can I Iron Silk?
Yes. Set your iron to lowest set or the silk setting as high temperature dull, puck or burn silk fabric. Avoid spraying as it will leave water spots. If your iron has steam function or you have a steamer, it’s helpful to remove wrinkles quickly.
How to remove stain from silk?
Quickly handle it once you got fresh stain. It’s very important to action at the first time, old stain is harder to remove. Wipe dirt with a wet clothes and soak the whole garment in cold water with detergent. Do not use stain remover as it will cause color fade on the place you use. Gently rub the satin and rinse.
